Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice presidency and the highest ranking female official in U.S history. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she was a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected the district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported health reform, federal descheduling for cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens and the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
